Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Ursula Wiedermann-Schmidt

Important achievements in research, teaching and patient care characterise the Centre for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology. It acts as a "bridge" between medical theory and clinical practice.

Researching diseases in order to prevent or treat them more efficiently - this motto unites the institutes at the Centre for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology. "Our approach is to find out what the immunological and infectiological causes of diseases are.  With knowledge of disease processes as well as certain pathogens and how they affect people and their immune system, new treatment strategies can be found," says Ursula Wiedermann-Schmidt, explaining the basic approach of her organisational unit, which she has headed since January 2020.
