Hygiene is the sum of all measures
to preserve human health.
Our goal is the prevention of infections and intoxications. Hygiene is a multi- and interdisciplinary field of many possible questions being studied in a wholistic high-quality apporach.
We employ various strategies, such as recording and identifying infections and hazardous agents to increase protection against them through cleaning, processing, disinfecting and sterilization procedures.
In addition to our focus on research and teaching, we a broad spectrum of expertise and analytics at our disposal.
Through our accredited assessment and inspection body "Hygiene Wien" consisting of Water Hygiene and Medical-technical Hygiene, established in 2004, we offer our microbiological, chemical and technical know-how to conduct examinations and inspections primarily for authorities, healthcare facilities, companies as well as water providers and wastewater disposers.

We strive for tranferal of our expertise into the public knowledge via courses and lectures, participation in national and international panels and the creation of lawsand regulations, norms and guidelines.
