Pathophysiology refers to how the human body functions abnormally as a result of pathological changes. Our research focuses on cellular and molecular pathophysiology, immunopathology, infectiology, comparative immunology, medical biotechnology, and cancer and allergy research.

We mourn the loss of Prof. Dr. Dietrich Kraft The members of the Centre for Pathophysiology, Infectiology and Immunology mourn the loss of Prof. Dr. Dietrich Kraft, who passed away at the age of 90. Dietrich Kraft had a significant influence on the Institute for Pathophysiology and Allergy Research at this centre through his scientific work and his collegial and constructive manner. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.
Merit scholarship for Thea Rieck Thea Rieck (Martin Schepelmann's research group) received a competitive merit scholarship from the University of Vienna for outstanding academic achievements in the previous academic year. The minimum requirements for applying for the scholarship are 40 ECTS credits and a grade point average of no more than 1.7 – Thea Rieck achieved a grade point average of 1.06 with 50 ECTS credits! Congratulations!
Congratulations to Our PhD Graduates Three PhD graduates from our institute celebrated the successful completion of their doctoral studies at the official graduation ceremony of the Medical University of Vienna.
