The 1st IPA Retreat was a resounding success

On June 5th, our Institute gathered for the very first IPA Retreat—an inspiring day filled with science, heartfelt farewells, and joyful connection.
The day began with a series of engaging scientific talks delivered by PIs, postdocs, and students from all divisions of the IPA. The presentations showcased the remarkable breadth and depth of our research in pathophysiology and allergy—spanning topics across immunology, oncology, osteology, and beyond.
A true highlight was the celebration of two of our esteemed principal investigators, Prof. Karin Hoffmann-Sommergruber and Prof. Peter Pietschmann, who will be retiring toward the end of the year. We honored their outstanding contributions and the lasting impact they’ve made on our scientific community, their students, and the field at large. Alongside a nice bottle of bubbly, they received framed word clouds created from the qualities and attributes that IPA members most associated with Karin and Peter.
The retreat concluded with laughter, games (with some very happy winners), and delicious food—an ideal way to celebrate not only professional milestones, but also the friendships and shared experiences that define who we are as an institute.
